    The challenge

Although REIDI has existed since 2007, its use in distributed generation is still underexplored. The process requires regulatory framing, technical documentation, distributor requirements, filings with ANEEL and the Ministry of Mines and Energy, protocol with the Federal Revenue Service, and compliance through the Executive Declaratory Act — a multidisciplinary flow that demands constant follow-up.

    02

    The solution developed

Nodal led the entire process: eligibility analysis, document structuring, technical filings, distributor protocol, regulatory follow-up, response to information requests, support with the Ministry, and Federal Revenue qualification. The outcome included the Executive Declaratory Act, the Federal Revenue Decision Dispatch, and official publication in the Official Gazette.

    03

    The financial result

With approval, the projects gained PIS and COFINS suspension on goods and services tied to construction works. Estimated tax benefit of R$ 637,904.55, potential of up to about R$ 740 thousand, meaningful CAPEX reduction, and stronger investment metrics — without changing the plants' technical performance.

    04

    Beyond approval

After qualification, Nodal guides proper use of the benefit: tax bookkeeping, required controls, correct invoice issuance, proof of acquisitions under tax suspension, and credit monitoring — reducing fiscal risk and ensuring safe use of the incentive.

    05

    REIDI's new moment

Beyond traditional generation, the law now expressly covers energy storage systems (BESS). The benefit can apply to PV plants under construction, PV associated with BESS, dedicated storage projects, and expansions that meet legal requirements.

    06

    Nodal's experience

With a proprietary methodology spanning regulation, engineering, taxation, and document management, Nodal-led projects deliver an average tax-benefit ticket around R$ 344 thousand per installed MW. Each engagement is tailored to technical profile, deployment schedule, and corporate structure.

    07

    Conclusion

REIDI is no longer limited to large infrastructure works — it is a strategic tool for distributed generation and storage. Properly structured, it lowers deployment cost and improves investment attractiveness. Nodal supports developers, investors, EPCs, and asset owners across every stage — from eligibility to safe utilization of the benefit.
